Damian’s Story

Damian Baranowski.

A Beloved Brother, Son, Boyfriend, Teammate, and Friend to all.

Damian was an incredible person. He was selfless, kind, and dedicated. He made everyone around him smile with his infectious laugh, enthusiasm and positive spirit. He would always offer a helping hand and never complained about any task he was confronted with.

At Delaware Valley High School, Damian was known for his prowess as a student athlete. He was a member of the high school swim team, then continued the sport at New York University on the college’s varsity swimming and diving team. He graduated NYU in May of 2024 with a Bachelors in Economics.

It was at NYU that he fell in love with cycling. He first used cycling as a means to get to class, but it soon became a way he could experience the world. That love never ended, it just continued to grow for the sport.

On June 29, 2024, Damian, lost his life in a tragic traffic crash. Just ten days after celebrating his 22nd birthday. He was cycling along the shoulder of a county road in New Jersey where he was struck from behind by a reckless driver, a senseless act that took away a vibrant soul.

Damian’s spirit and passion for life will forever remain in our hearts. We miss him deeply. His legacy will never fade from those who had the privilege of knowing him. Keep on cycling, Damian. We love you so much.
